Getting Found on AI Search: My Chat on the This Mum Loves Tech Podcast

by | Sep 25, 2026 | Getting Found Online

I was a guest on the This Mum Loves Tech podcast with Nicola Walsh, talking all about getting found on AI search. A few years ago I’d have laughed at the idea of me on a tech podcast. I was a total technophobe who avoided anything techy for as long as I possibly could. Now I teach therapists how to get found and recommended by AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude and Google’s AI Overviews.

Have a listen below. It’s 41 minutes, so perfect for a walk or the drive between clients.

What we talked about in the episode

  • My journey from technophobe to using AI every day in my business, including how I use Claude as a work tool
  • Why simple systems come before expensive software
  • What Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) is and how it differs from traditional SEO
  • Why keeping your business details consistent across every platform helps AI tools trust you
  • Why your Google Business Profile is the number one free tool for getting seen in AI search

What getting found on AI search means for therapists

When someone wanted a massage therapist, counsellor or reflexologist, they used to type a few words into Google and scroll through a list of websites. More and more people now ask ChatGPT or read Google’s AI Overview instead. They type a full question, such as who’s a good sports massage therapist near Kingston, and get a short answer that names a handful of practices.

This is called Generative Engine Optimisation, or GEO. It’s about making sure AI tools can find your practice, understand what you do and trust you enough to recommend you.

The good news is that most of what makes you findable is free and non-techy. You don’t need to become a tech expert, and you don’t need to pay for expensive software. As Nicola and I talked about on the podcast, simple systems come before shiny tools.

5 simple steps for getting found on AI search

1. Complete your Google Business Profile

Your Google Business Profile is the number one free tool for AI search visibility. Fill in every section: categories, services, photos, opening hours and a description that says exactly who you help and where. AI tools lean on this information when they answer local questions, so every gap makes it harder for them to recommend you.

2. Keep your details the same everywhere

Search your business name and check your name, address, phone number and website match on every listing you find. That includes your website, Google, Facebook, Instagram, Yell and any directories you’re on. When your details match, AI tools can be confident they’ve found the right business.

3. Ask for Google reviews

Reviews are one of the biggest trust signals AI tools look at. Ask one happy client a week for a review and send them your direct review link so it only takes them a minute. Reviews that mention the treatment and your town help even more.

4. Answer your clients’ questions on your website

Think about the questions clients ask you in the treatment room, then answer them on your website in plain language. A short FAQ section on your main pages gives AI tools clear answers they can use in their responses.

5. Say who you help in plain words

Your website, profiles and bios should all say what you do, who you help and where you’re based. A line like sports massage therapist in Surbiton helping runners recover from injury tells AI far more than a vague sentence about wellbeing.

Why I went from technophobe to teaching this

I spent 21 years as a massage therapist before I started coaching, and I still treat clients every week. I know how little time you have between sessions and how easy it is to put tech in the too-hard pile.

That’s why I teach this in a simple, step-by-step way. If I can go from avoiding tech to teaching it, you can absolutely get your own practice found. You can read more about how I work with therapists on my homepage.
